Thirumazhisai Alvar

Thirumazhisai Alvar, one of the twelve revered Alvars, was born in Thirumazhisai near Chennai. He is known for his deep devotion to Lord Vishnu and composed the Thiruchanda Virutham and Naanmugan Thiruvandhadhi. His works emphasize the glory of the Supreme Being over ritualistic practices. A staunch Vaishnavite, he transformed many through his unwavering Bhakti, including the Pallava king. His birthplace, Thirumazhisai, is a significant pilgrimage site.
