Andal

Andal, the only female among the twelve Alvars, was born in Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu, and is revered as an incarnation of Goddess Bhudevi. Raised by Periyalvar, she composed the Tiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi, expressing deep love and devotion to Lord Vishnu, especially Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam. Her Tiruppavai is sung daily during the Tamil month of Margazhi. Andal’s life exemplifies pure Bhakti and divine union. She is worshipped alongside Lord Ranganatha.
