Thirumangai Alvar

Thirumangai Alvar, one of the twelve Alvars, was a king turned saint and one of the most prolific contributors to the Naalayira Divya Prabandham. Born in Thirukkurayalur, he initially led a worldly life but later turned into a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. He composed six prabandhams, including Periya Tirumozhi, Tirunetuntandakam, and Tirukkuruntandakam, visiting many Divya Desams. Known for his poetic mastery, emotional depth, and unwavering Bhakti, Thirumangai Alvar’s hymns describe the glory of temples and Vishnu’s divine forms.
