Thirupanal Alvar

Thirupanal Alvar, one of the twelve Alvars, was born in Uraiyur near Srirangam. He belonged to the Panar community and was deeply devoted to Lord Ranganatha. Though initially denied entry into the temple, his divine Bhakti moved Lord Ranganatha Himself to accept his devotion. Thirupanal Alvar composed Amalanadhipiran, a set of 10 verses that describe the beauty of the Lord from His lotus feet to His divine crown. His hymns are part of the Naalayira Divya Prabandham.
