The Kal Garuda Sevai at Nachiyar Koil, one of the 108 Divya Desams, is a stunning and miraculous spectacle. During the Margazhi and Panguni Brahmotsavams, the 4-ton stone Garuda (Kal Garudan) carries the Lord on procession. Uniquely, he is first lifted by 4 men, then 8, then 16, doubling up to 128 men. Upon returning, the number reduces in reverse, ending with 4 men again—a marvel that draws thousands of devotees annually.
Kal Garudan resides in a separate shrine with 9 serpent hoods. At this temple, the presiding deity grants primacy to Goddess Vanjulavalli, standing slightly ahead of Him—a rare sight. The Kal Garuda miracle remains a major attraction for Vaishnavites and spiritual travelers across the country.
