உறையூர் அழகிய மணவாள பெருமாள் திருக்கோவில், 108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில் இரண்டாவதாக போற்றப்படும் புனிதத் தலம் ஆகும். இத்தலம் திருப்பாணாழ்வாரின் அவதார ஸ்தலமாக சிறப்பு பெற்றது. திருக்கோழி, உறந்தை, நிகளாபுரி, திருவுறையூர் ஆகிய பெயர்களிலும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

ஒரு காலத்தில், யானை ஒன்றை கோழி விரட்டி ஓட்டியதால், இவ்வூருக்கு “திருக்கோழி” என்ற பெயர் ஏற்பட்டது. திருச்சி ரயில் நிலையத்திலிருந்து 5 கிமீ மற்றும் ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோயிலிலிருந்து 3 கிமீ தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

துவாபர யுகத்தில், நந்த சோழ மன்னருக்கு குழந்தை வரமின்றி இருந்ததால், ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதரிடம் பிரார்த்தித்தார். இறைவி மகாலட்சுமி, கமலவல்லியாக அவதரித்து மன்னரால் வளர்க்கப்பட்டார். பருவம் அடைந்ததும் ரங்கநாதரை மணக்க விரும்பி, திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார்.

இத்தலம் “நாச்சியார் கோயில்” என அழைக்கப்படுவது, தாயாருக்கு முதன்மை தரப்படுவதாலாகும். ஆயில்யம் நட்சத்திர நாளில் வழிபட்டால் திருமணத் தடை நீங்கும் என நம்பப்படுகிறது.

வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசியன்று இங்கு தாயாரே சொர்க்கவாசல் கடக்கிறார். பங்குனி உத்திரத்தில் நம்பெருமாள், கமலவல்லியுடன் சேவை தருகிறார்.

பிரசித்தி பெற்ற திருவிழாக்கள்: புரட்டாசி நவராத்திரி, கார்த்திகை திருப்பாணாழ்வார் 10 நாள் விழா, மார்கழி வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி 21 நாள் வைபவம்.

Uraiyur Azhagiya Manavalan Perumal Temple is revered as the second among the 108 Divya Desams in the Vaishnavite tradition. Located in Tiruchirappalli district, this sacred place is also known as Thirukkozhi, Uraiyur, Thiruvuraiyur, Uranthai, and Nikalaapuri. It is the birthplace of Thiruppaan Azhwar, one of the twelve Alwars.

Legend says that when an elephant entered the city, a rooster chased it away—hence the name “Thirukkozhi” (kozi = rooster). The temple is situated just 5 km from Trichy Railway Station and 3 km from the famous Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple.

In Dwapara Yuga, King Nanda Chola, a devout follower of Ranganatha, longed for a child. Lord Ranganatha blessed him by making Goddess Lakshmi incarnate as Kamalavalli, whom the king discovered floating in a lotus. As she matured, she vowed to marry Ranganatha, and the divine wedding took place here.

This site is famously called “Nachiyar Koil”, as the Goddess receives primary worship. The divine couple graces devotees in wedding attire, facing north toward Srirangam. It’s strongly believed that worshipping Kamalavalli on Ayilyam Nakshatra helps remove marriage obstacles.

On Vaikunta Ekadasi, only Kamalavalli Nachiyar crosses the Paramapada Vaasal here. During Panguni Uthiram, Namperumal visits to unite with Kamalavalli and then returns to Srirangam to be with Ranganayaki Thayar.
