07-Harasapa Vimosana Perumal

தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் கண்டியூரில் அமைந்துள்ள ஹரசாப விமோசன பெருமாள் கோயில், திருமாலின் மங்களாசாசனம் பெற்ற 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் 7வது திவ்ய தேசமாகும். இத்தலம் திருமங்கையாழ்வாரால் மங்களாசாசனம் பெற்றது. இங்கே மூன்று மூர்த்திகளான பிரம்மா, விஷ்ணு, சிவன் ஒரே தலத்தில் அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர்.

தல வரலாற்றின்படி, பிரம்மனின் கர்வத்தை அடக்க ஈசன் அவரது நடுத்தலை கிள்ளியதால் பிரம்மஹத்தி தோஷம் ஏற்பட்டது. அதைத் தீர்க்க இவ்வூரில் வந்தபோது கபாலம் விழுந்த இடத்தில் திருமாலும் பூரணவல்லியுடன் இருந்ததால், ஈசனின் சாபம் நீங்கியது. அதனால் பெருமாளை ஹரசாப விமோசன பெருமாள் என அழைக்கின்றனர்.

இத்தலம் “கமலாரண்யம்”, “திரிமூர்த்தி க்ஷேத்ரம்”, “கண்டன க்ஷேத்ரம்” என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இங்கு பிரம்மதேவன் தனிச் சந்நிதியில் அருள்பாலிப்பதும் விசேஷம். பில்கள், சூனியம் போன்ற தோஷங்களுக்கு தீர்வு தரும் தலமாக இங்கு வழிபாடு பலனளிக்கிறது.

பங்குனி பிரம்மோற்சவம், வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி, ஐப்பசி பவித்ரோற்சவம், கார்த்திகை தீபம் உள்ளிட்ட விழாக்கள் பிரமாண்டமாக நடைபெறும்.

Harasapa Vimosana Perumal Temple, located in Kandiyur, Thanjavur district, is the 7th Divya Desam among the 108 Vaishnavite shrines glorified by Thirumangai Alwar. It is one of the few temples where the Trimurthis – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva – are worshipped in the same sacred complex.

Legend says Brahma once developed arrogance, equating himself with Shiva. To humble him, Shiva plucked Brahma’s central head, incurring Brahmahatthi Dosham. Seeking redemption, Shiva wandered to various shrines. At Kandiyur, where the skull (kapala) fell, Lord Vishnu appeared with Poornavalli, and Shiva’s curse was lifted. Hence, Vishnu is called Harasapa Vimosana Perumal – “the one who removed Shiva’s curse”.

This temple is also known as Kamalaaranyam, Trimurthi Kshetram, and Kandanakshetram. It is the only temple where Lord Brahma has a dedicated sanctum, along with Saraswati. Devotees believe that worshipping here removes all doshas, including black magic and negative energies.

Festivals: Panguni Brahmotsavam (19 days), Vaikunta Ekadasi, Aippasi Pavithrotsavam, and Karthigai Deepam are celebrated grandly with vahanam processions and rituals.

Thirumangai Alwar compares this Perumal to those at Srirangam, Kanchipuram, and Koviladi.
