குடந்தை சாரங்கபாணி கோயில் – 12வது திவ்ய தேசம்

108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில் 12வது தலமாக போற்றப்படும் குடந்தை சாரங்கபாணி கோயில், தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் கும்பகோணத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. திருமால் (சாரங்கபாணி பெருமாள்) மற்றும் கோமளவல்லி தாயார் இங்கே எழுந்தருளியுள்ளனர். தாயாரை மணமுடிக்க தேரில் வந்ததால், சந்நிதி தேரின் வடிவில் உள்ளது.

இத்தலத்தில் திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் உட்பட ஏழு ஆழ்வார்கள் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர். மூலவர் ஆராவமுதன் (சாரங்கபாணி), உத்தான சயனத்தில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். கோயிலின் ராஜகோபுரம் 11 நிலைகளுடன் 173 அடி உயரமாக உள்ளது.

இது கோமளவல்லி தாயார் அவதரித்த தலமாக சிறப்புடையது. பிருகு முனிவரின் மகளாக பிறந்த தாயாரை திருமால் சார்ங்கம் எனும் வில்லுடன் வந்தே மணந்ததால், “சாரங்கபாணி” எனப்படும். இத்தலம் பஞ்சரங்கத் தலங்களில் ஒன்றாக கருதப்படுகிறது.

சிறப்பு அம்சமாக, உத்தராயண–தட்சிணாயண வாசல்கள், பாதாள சீனிவாசர் சந்நிதி, ரதபந்த சந்நிதி ஆகியவை உள்ளன. சொர்க்கவாசல் இல்லாத கோயிலாக இங்கே தரிசனம் செய்தால் முக்தி கிடைக்கும் என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது.

முக்கிய திருவிழாக்கள்: சித்திரைத் தேர்த்திருவிழா, மார்கழி வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி, வசந்த உற்சவம், மற்றும் அக்ஷய திருதியையில் 12 கருட சேவை, இதன்போது 12 கோயில்களிலிருந்து உற்சவர்கள் கருட வாகனத்தில் எழுந்தருளுவார்கள்.

இக்கோயிலில் தாயாரே பிரதானம். கோமாதா பூஜையுடன் நடை திறக்கப்படுகிறது. இதுதான் உபய பிரதான திவ்ய தேசம்.

Sarangapani Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams, revered as the 12th Divya Desam. The temple is dedicated to Lord Sarangapani (an incarnation of Vishnu) and Komalavalli Thayar. The sanctum resembles a chariot, symbolizing the Lord’s arrival to marry the goddess.

Seven Azhwars, including Thirumangai Azhwar and Andal, have sung praises (Mangala Sasanam) of this temple. The main deity, known as Aaravamudhan or Sarangapani, appears in Uttana Sayanam (semi-reclining) posture. The temple’s sanctum, Rajagopuram (173 ft, 11 tiers), and beautifully carved sculptures reflect the grandeur of Chola architecture.

This is the birthplace of Komalavalli Thayar, where she incarnated as Sage Brigu’s daughter. Lord Vishnu, holding a bow (Sharnga), came to wed her, earning the name Sarangapani. The temple is one of the Pancharanga Kshetrams, and a visit here is believed to grant moksha.

Unique features include Uttarayana and Dakshinayana entrances, symbolizing the cosmic journey. The temple chariot (Ratha Bandham) and the Patal Srinivasa shrine add spiritual depth. Notably, the temple lacks a Swarga Vasal, as it is believed Lord Vishnu came here directly from Vaikuntam.

Major festivals: Chithirai Car Festival, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Vasanthotsavam, and Garuda Sevai during Akshaya Tritiya, where 12 Vishnu temples conduct a rare Garuda Vahanam procession.

This ancient temple is a spiritual gem of Vaishnavism, with deep connections to Alwars, Nathamuni, and the compilation of the Naalayira Divya Prabandham.
