திருக்கண்ணமங்கை பக்தவத்சலப் பெருமாள் கோயில், 108 திவ்யதேசங்களில் 18-வது தலமாகும். இது சப்த புண்ணிய க்ஷேத்ரம் என்றும், லட்சுமி வனம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இத்தலத்தில் திருமாலும் திருமகளும் கல்யாணம் செய்த அதிநிகழ்வு நிகழ்ந்ததால், கிருஷ்ண மங்கள க்ஷேத்ரம் என்ற பெயரும் பெற்றுள்ளது.

இங்கு விஷ்வக்ஸேனர் 2 திருக்கரங்களுடன் அருள்பாலிப்பது அரியதொரு தல சௌந்தரியம். கருடாழ்வார், நின்ற கோலத்தில், பிரம்மாண்ட வடிவில் எழுந்தருள்கிறார். தேனீக்கள் வடிவில் தேவர்கள் இத்தலத்தில் இருப்பது, மற்றும் தாயார் சந்நிதி அருகே தேன் கூடு இருக்கிறது என்பது இத்தலத்தின் அபூர்வ அம்சம்.

இந்த திவ்யதேசம் திருமங்கையாழ்வார் 14 பாசுரங்களில் பாடப்பட்டது. பஞ்ச கிருஷ்ண தலங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். திருக்கண்ணமங்கை ஆண்டான் என்ற பக்தரின் செயல்கள் காரணமாக, இவ்வூருக்கு “திருக்கண்ணமங்கை” என்ற பெயர் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

திருமணத் தடை நீங்க, குழந்தை பெற, வேலை கிடைக்க, பதவி உயர்வு பெற, இத்தல பெருமாளை வழிபட, பக்தர்கள் திரளாக வருகின்றனர்.

Thirukkannamangai Bhaktavatsala Perumal Temple, also known as Lakshmi Vanam, is the 18th Divya Desam among the sacred 108 Vaishnavite shrines. This temple is revered as a Saptha Punya Kshetram due to the presence of seven holy attributes—Vimana, Aranya, Mandapam, Tirtha, Kshetra, River, and City.

The temple marks the divine marriage of Vishnu and Lakshmi, giving it the name Krishna Mangala Kshetra. It’s believed that bees symbolize Devas who wished to eternally witness the divine wedding. A mysterious beehive near the Thayar shrine is an unexplained wonder of this temple.

Here, Vishvaksena appears with just two hands, a rare depiction, and Garuda stands majestically in his sanctum. Thirumangai Alvar glorified this temple in 14 hymns. It is also one of the Pancha Krishna Kshetrams in Tamil Nadu.

According to legends, the temple name originates from Thirukkannamangai Andan, a disciple of Nathamuni, who merged with the deity in the form of light. The temple is over 1,000 years old and hosts a 5-tier Rajagopuram with shrines for Andal, Hayagriva, and others.

Devotees believe that prayers here help in marriage alliances, childbirth, career growth, and removal of obstacles. The temple’s 10-day Chitra Pournami festival is celebrated grandly.
