தஞ்சாவூர் நீலமேகப் பெருமாள் கோயில் 108 திவ்யதேசங்களில் 22-வது திவ்யதேசமாக போற்றப்படுகிறது. சோழர்கள் கட்டிய இக்கோயிலுக்கு பூதத்தாழ்வார், நம்மாழ்வார், திருமங்கையாழ்வார் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர்.

நீலமேகப் பெருமாள் – செங்கமலவல்லி தாயார்
மணிக்குன்றப் பெருமாள் – அம்புஜவல்லி தாயார்
வீர நரசிம்மர் – தஞ்சை நாயகி
இந்த மூன்று கோயில்களும் சேர்ந்து ஒரே திவ்யதேசமாக கருதப்படுகின்றன. இத்தலத்தில் உள்ள பஞ்ச நரசிம்மர்கள் – யோக, லட்சுமி, அபயவரத நரசிம்மர்கள் – சிறப்பு தரிசனமாக உள்ளனர்.
பங்குனி, சித்திரை, வைகாசி மாதங்களில் பெரிய திருவிழாக்கள் நடைபெறும். இத்தலம் பராசர ஷேத்ரம், அழகாபுரி, தஞ்சையாழி நகர் எனப் பல பெயர்களால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

The Thanjavur Neelamegha Perumal Temple is revered as the 22nd Divya Desam among the 108 sacred Vaishnava shrines. Built by the Cholas, this temple is glorified in the hymns of Bhutath Alvar, Nammazhwar, and Tirumangai Alvar.

According to legend, Lord Vishnu appeared here to protect sage Parashara from the demons Tanjakan, Dandakan, and Tadakan. The Lord manifested as Veera Narasimha and defeated them. After surrendering, Tanjakan gave his name to the city—Thanjakanur, now known as Thanjavur.
