தலைச்சங்காடு நாண்மதியப் பெருமாள் கோயில், 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் 25-வது தலம் ஆகும். இத்தலம், மயிலாடுதுறையில் இருந்து 18 கிமீ தொலைவில், தரங்கம்பாடி சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. திருமங்கையாழ்வார், இத்தலத்தில் 2 பாசுரங்கள் பாடி மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளார்.

சந்திரன், தனது சாப நிவாரணம் வேண்டி இத்தலத்தில் திருமாலுக்கு தவம் செய்து வாழ்த்து பெற்றார். பெருமாள், சந்திரனை தலையில் சூடி அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். அதனால் இத்தலம் “நாண்மதியம்” என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
சங்கராஜேஸ்வரர் கோயிலில், விஷ்ணுவுக்கு தனி சன்னதி உள்ளது, இது சைவ-வைஷ்ணவ ஐக்கியத்தின் சின்னமாகும். பாஞ்சசன்யம் சங்கு, இத்தலத்தில் பெருமாளுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது. சந்திர தோஷ நிவாரணத்திற்கேற்ற சிறப்பு தலம் என பரிகாச்தலம் ஆகும்.
கோயிலில் சில காலம் வழிபாடு நின்ற நிலையில், வடுக நம்பியும், அவரது சீடரான சுந்தர ராமானுஜ தாசரும் திருப்பணி செய்துள்ளனர்.

Thalachangadu Nanmadhiyam Perumal Temple is revered as the 25th Divya Desam among the 108 Vaishnavite sacred shrines. Located 18 km from Mayiladuthurai, this temple is on the way to Tharangambadi. Thirumangai Alvar glorified this temple with 2 pasurams in the Periya Thirumozhi.

Lord Chandra (Moon God), suffering from dual curses, bathed in this temple’s holy tank and worshipped the Lord for relief. The Lord appeared, adorned Chandra on His head, and blessed him. Hence, He is known as Nanmadhiyam Perumal (“the One with the cool moon”).
The temple is notable for its unique Shaiva-Vaishnava unity, as Lord Vishnu has a shrine in the nearby Shiva temple (Sangaranayeswarar Temple). This is where Vishnu received the Panchajanya conch from Shiva.
This shrine is believed to be powerful for remedying Chandra dosham (afflictions due to Moon). Vaduva Nambi and his disciple Sundara Ramanuja Dasa are credited for restoring temple worship in later times.
Festivals: Vaikunta Ekadasi, Navaratri, and special abhishekam and aradhanai rituals are conducted with devotion.
