Sri Thalaichanga Naanmadhiya Perumal Temple (25th Divya Desam)

Located at Thalaichangadu near Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, this sacred shrine is the 25th Divya Desam. The presiding deity is Sri Naanmadhiya Perumal (Venn Chudar Perumal), who stands facing east, with Thalaichanga Nachiyar (Soundara Nayaki) as the divine consort.

Temple Highlights

• Chandra Shapa Vimocchanam: Lord Chandra (Moon God) worshipped here to be freed from curses and regain his radiance. Pleased with his penance, Lord Vishnu granted him liberation, earning the deity the name Naanmadhiya Perumal (Lord of the Moon).
• Sacred Conch Legend: The temple is known as Thalaichangadu (“Forest of the Sacred Conch”), where Lord Vishnu is believed to have obtained the divine Panchajanyam conch after worshipping Lord Shiva.
• Divya Prabandham: The temple was glorified by Thirumangai Alvar in Periya Thirumozhi, praising the Lord’s beauty and the sacred Chandra Pushkarani (temple tank).

மயிலாடுதுறை அருகிலுள்ள தலைச்சங்காடு, வைணவ மரபின் 25-ஆவது திவ்ய தேசம் ஆகும். இத்தலத்தில் ஸ்ரீ நாண்மதியப் பெருமாள் (வெண்சுடர்ப் பெருமாள்) கிழக்கு நோக்கி நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். தாயார் தலைச்சங்க நாச்சியார் (சவுந்தர நாயகி).

• சந்திர சாப விமோசனம்: சந்திர பகவான் இத்தலத்தில் தவம் செய்து சாப விமோசனம் பெற்று, இழந்த ஒளியை மீண்டும் பெற்றார். அதனால் பெருமாள் நாண்மதியப் பெருமாள் எனப் போற்றப்படுகிறார்.
• பாஞ்சஜன்ய சங்கு: பெருமாள் இத்தலத்தில் சிவபெருமானை வழிபட்டு தெய்வீக பாஞ்சஜன்யம் சங்கைப் பெற்றதாக புராணம் கூறுகிறது.
• ஆழ்வார் மங்களாசாசனம்: திருமங்கையாழ்வார் தனது பெரிய திருமொழியில் இத்தலப் பெருமாளையும் சந்திர புஷ்கரணி தீர்த்தத்தையும் புகழ்ந்து பாடியுள்ளார்.
