37-Thiruvali Thirunagari

திருவாலி அழகிய சிங்கர் மற்றும் திருநகரி கல்யாண ரங்கநாதர் கோயில், இரண்டும் சேர்ந்ததே 37-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக போற்றப்படுகிறது. இத்தலங்கள் மயிலாடுதுறையிலிருந்து 5 கிமீ தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளன.

திருமங்கையாழ்வார் மற்றும் குலசேகராழ்வார் இத்தலத்தை மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர். இத்தலம் பெருமாள் திருமகளை ஆலிங்கனம் செய்த இடமாகும், அதனால் இவை இரட்டைத் தலங்கள் என அழைக்கப்படும்.

மோக்ஷம் வேண்டி தவம் இருந்த கர்த்தம பிரஜாபதி மற்றும் மந்திரி சங்கபாலன் கலியுகத்தில் திருமங்கையாழ்வார் ஆக பிறந்தார். இவர் திருவாலியில் வாழ்ந்த குமுதவல்லி நாச்சியாரை மணம் செய்ய, 1000 வைணவர்களுக்கு அன்னதானம் செய்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது.

அன்னதானம் தொடர, வழிப்பறை செய்யும் போது, பெருமாள் தானாகவே அஷ்டாட்சர மந்திரத்தை உபதேசம் செய்து முக்தி அருளினார்.

இத்தலத்தில் வேலுடன் திருமங்கையாழ்வார், தனி சந்நிதியில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். இரண்டு கோயில்களிலும் இரு கொடி மரங்கள் உள்ளன என்பது சிறப்பு.

திருநகரி கோயில் 7 நிலை ராஜகோபுரத்துடன், மேற்கு நோக்கி வேதராஜன் (கல்யாண ரங்கநாதர்) அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்.

The twin temples of Thiruvali Azhagiya Singar Temple and Thirunagari Kalyana Ranganatha Temple are together revered as the 37th Divya Desam. These sacred shrines are located about 5 km from Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu.

This Divya Desam is glorified by the hymns of Kulasekara Azhwar and Thirumangai Azhwar. It is believed that Lord Vishnu embraced Goddess Lakshmi at this site, hence the two temples are jointly referred to as Twin Divya Desams (Thiruvali–Thirunagari).

Karthama Prajapati, the son of Lord Brahma, performed penance for salvation here. Over multiple births—including as Sangabalan (a minister) and later as Thirumangai Azhwar—he attained moksha through divine grace.

Thirumangai Azhwar, in his final birth, sought to marry Kumudavalli Nachiyar and fulfilled her condition of feeding 1,000 Vaishnavites daily. When he ran out of resources, he resorted to robbery. During one such act, Lord Vishnu Himself appeared and initiated him with the sacred Ashtakshara mantra, granting him liberation.

This temple uniquely features Thirumangai Azhwar with a Vel (spear) in a separate shrine. There are two temple flags (Dwajasthambams) – one in front of the Lord and one before Azhwar.

The Thirunagari temple has a majestic 7-tiered Rajagopuram, where Lord Kalyana Ranganatha, also known as Vedarajan, blesses devotees facing west.
