📜 தல வரலாறு

துர்வாச முனிவர், திருமாலின் மாலையை இந்திரனுக்கு வழங்கினார். இந்திரன் அதனை ஐராவதத்துக்கு வீசி அவமதித்தார். கோபித்த முனிவர், இந்திரனைச் சபித்தார். இதனால், செல்வங்கள் அனைத்தும் விலகின. சாப நிவாரணம் பெற, இந்திரன் திருமாலிடம் சரணடைந்தார்.

பின், திருப்பாற்கடல் கடையும் போது, மகாலட்சுமி தோன்ற, அவர் இந்திரனுக்கு மாலை அளித்தார். அதனை அருச்சனையாக அணிந்து, இந்திரன் மீண்டும் தேவேந்திரனாக ஆனார். திருமாலும் திருமகளும் இத்தலத்தில் திருமணம் புரிந்தனர். இதைக் காண தேவர்கள் திரளாக வந்ததால், இத்தலத்துக்கு திருத்தேவனார்த் தொகை என்ற சிறப்புப் பெயர் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

🌟 கோயில் சிறப்புகள்

திருமால் வைகுண்டத்தில் வாழ்ந்தாலும், பல அவதாரங்களில் பூமியிலேயே தரிசனம் அளிக்கிறார். இதனால் தேவர்கள் கூட பூலோகத்திற்கு வந்து வழிபட வேண்டிய கட்டாயம் ஏற்படுகிறது. இத்தலத்தில் தெய்வ திருமணமே நிகழ்ந்துள்ளதால், மிகுந்த புனிதத்தன்மை வாய்ந்தது.

This sacred place is named after the gathering of celestial beings (Devas) who assembled here to witness the divine wedding of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

🕉️ Temple Legend

Durvasa Maharishi gifted a garland from Vishnu to Indra, who insultingly placed it on his elephant. Enraged, Durvasa cursed Indra, causing him to lose all prosperity. Indra sought redemption from Guru Brihaspati and Brahma, who directed him to surrender to Lord Vishnu.

During the churning of the Milky Ocean (Thirupparkadal), Goddess Lakshmi emerged and blessed Indra with a garland. Indra respectfully wore it, thus regaining his lost glory. This divine wedding of Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi was witnessed by the gathering of Devas, earning the place its name – Thiruthevanar Thogai.

🛕 Temple Highlights

Though Lord Vishnu resides in Vaikuntha, He often appears on Earth in various avatars. To behold His form, even Devas descend to Bhuloka. At this sacred site, the celestial wedding occurred, making it a unique place of worship.
