காஞ்சிபுரம் திருவெக்கா யதோக்தகாரி பெருமாள் கோயில் என்பது திருமாலால் மங்களாசாசனம் பெற்ற 51-வது திவ்யதேசமாகும். இங்கு பெருமாள் வலமிருந்து இடமாக சயன கோலத்தில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார் — இது மிகவும் அரிய திருக்கோலம் ஆகும்.

பிரம்மதேவன் யாகம் நடத்தும் போது, சரஸ்வதி தேவி வெள்ளமாக வந்து தடுக்கும் போது, திருமால் வேகவதி ஆற்றைக் கடக்கும் நிலையில் அணையாக சயனித்தார். இதனாலே திருவெட்கா எனப் பெயர் வந்தது.
பிரபலமான கட்டுரை: திருமழிசை ஆழ்வார், சீடர் கனிக்கண்ணன் உடன் கோயிலை விட்டு செல்ல, பெருமாளும் ஆழ்வாரை பின்தொடர்ந்து தனது பாம்பு படுக்கையை சுருட்டிக் கொண்டு சென்றார். அதனால் சொன்ன வண்ணம் செய்த பெருமாள் என்ற திருநாமம் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

Thiruvekka Yathokthakari Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram is the 51st Divya Desam, glorified by five Azhwars – Poigai Azhwar, Thirumazhisai Azhwar, Pey Azhwar, Thirumangai Azhwar, and Nammazhwar. The main deity, Yathokthakari Perumal, is in a unique reclining posture facing left, which is a rare occurrence among Vishnu temples.
The Thayar here is Komalavalli Thayar, and the sacred tank is Poigai Pushkarini, the birthplace of Poigai Azhwar. According to legend, Lord Vishnu blocked the flow of River Vegavati to help Brahma perform a yagna, by reclining across the river as a dam, giving rise to the name Thiruvekka (Vekka – embarrassment).
The temple is famous for the divine episode where Thirumazhisai Azhwar left Kanchipuram with his disciple Kanikkannan, and Perumal rolled up his Adisesha bed and followed them, showing true devotion to his devotee. Due to this incident, the deity is known as “Yathokthakari” – the one who acted as requested.
