68- Devaprayag Neelamegha Perumal

108 வைணவ திவ்யதேசங்களில், உத்தராகண்ட் மாநிலம்,  தேவப்பிரயாகை நீலமேக பெருமாள் கோயில் 68-வது திவ்யதேசமாகப் போற்றப்படுகிறது. இக்கோயில் ரிஷிகேஷிலிருந்து 45 மைல் தொலைவில், 1,700 அடி உயரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

பத்மபுராணம், மத்ஸ்யபுராணம், கூர்மபுராணம் மற்றும் அக்னிபுராணம் போன்ற பூரண நூல்களில் இத்தலத்தின் சிறப்புகள் விரிவாக கூறப்பட்டுள்ளன. பிரம்மதேவர் இங்கு மிகச் சிறந்த யாகத்தைத் தொடங்கி, தேவப்பிரயாகை என பெயர் பெற்றது. இதேபோல், திருமாலை தேவனாகக் கருதி இங்கு யாகம் செய்யப்பட்டதால் இத்தலம் மிகவும் பரிசுத்தமாகும்.

இத்தலத்தில் பஞ்சபிரயாகைகளில் ஒன்று எனும் வகையில் கங்கை, யமுனை, சரஸ்வதி, பாகீரதி, அலக்நந்தா நதிகள் சங்கமம் காணப்படுகின்றது. கோயிலின் மூலவர் நீலமேகப் பெருமாள் (புருஷோத்தமன்) கிழக்கு நோக்கி நின்று அருள் புரிகிறார். ஆதிசங்கரர் ஸ்தாபித்த மூலவர் இதுவே ஆகும்.

அஞ்சநேயர், கால பைரவர், மகாதேவர், பத்ரிநாதர் சன்னிதிகள் இத்தலத்தில் உள்ளன. இங்கு பெரியாழ்வார் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளார்.

மகர சங்கராந்தி, வசந்த பஞ்சமி போன்ற திருவிழாக்கள் இக்கோயிலில் சிறப்பாக நடைபெறுகின்றன. பக்தர்கள் இங்கு நீராடி, மனம் மற்றும் உடலைத் தூய்மையாக்கி பெருமாளுக்கு வழிபடுவர்.

Among the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams, the Devaprayag Neelamegha Perumal Temple, located in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand, holds the prestigious position as the 68th Divya Desam. Situated at an elevation of 1,700 feet, about 45 miles from Rishikesh on the way to Badrinath, this sacred temple is steeped in rich mythology and religious significance.

The temple is glorified in the Padma Purana, Matsya Purana, Kurma Purana, and Agni Purana, highlighting its sanctity. Known as Devaprayag because the gods performed yagna (sacrificial rituals) here during the Brahma muhurta, it is also famous as a sacred confluence where the rivers Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Yamuna, and Saraswati merge, forming the revered Panch Prayag.

The main deity, Neelamegha Perumal (Purushothaman, Veni Madhavan), faces east in a standing posture beneath the Mangala Vimana. The temple also houses shrines for Anjaneya, Kala Bhairava, Mahadeva, and Badrinathar. This holy place was sanctified by Periyalwar and the idol was consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya.

Devaprayag is famous for its Mangala Teertham and proximity to the sacred Ganga River. Visitors partake in holy baths at the confluence to cleanse both body and soul. The temple hosts vibrant festivals like Makar Sankranti and Vasantha Panchami, drawing pilgrims worldwide.
