Fall of Bhishma
Bhishma, the grandsire of the Kuru dynasty, was a mighty warrior blessed with the boon to choose his time of death. On the 10th day of the Mahabharata War, he became unstoppable, defeating many Pandava warriors.
Krishna, knowing Bhishma’s invincibility, guided Shikhandi—who was born a woman and thus not considered a true warrior by Bhishma—to face him. Arjuna, hiding behind Shikhandi, showered arrows.
Respecting his vow not to fight women, Bhishma laid down his arms, and Arjuna’s arrows pierced his body. Bhishma fell—not in defeat, but in honor, lying on a bed of arrows.
He waited for the auspicious time (Uttarayana) to leave his body, offering priceless wisdom to Yudhishthira. His fall marked a turning point in the war.
🗡️ பீஷ்மர் வீழ்ச்சி
பீஷ்மர், குரு வம்சத்தின் மாமேதை, இருளாக வர வேண்டிய காலத்தைத் தேர்வு செய்யும் வரம் பெற்றவர். மகாபாரதப் போரின் பத்தாம் நாளில், அவர் வெற்றியடைந்து பாண்டவர்கள் பலரை தோற்கடித்தார்.
அவரின் அபாத்தியத்தைக் கண்டு, ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணர் யுக்தி வகுத்தார். சிகண்டி, பெண்மையாக பிறந்தவர், பீஷ்மரால் வீரராக கருதப்படவில்லை. அர்ஜுனர், சிகண்டியை முன்வைத்து, பீஷ்மரின் மீது அம்புகளை பொழிந்தார்.
பீஷ்மர், தனது சத்தியத்தை மதித்து போராடாமல் விலகினார். அர்ஜுனரின் அம்புகள் அவரது உடலை துளைத்தன. அவர் அம்புகளால் ஆன படுக்கையில் விழுந்தார் – தோல்வியால் அல்ல, தர்மமான விழுப்புணர்ச்சியால்.
உத்திராயண காலம் வரைக்கும் உயிரிழக்காமல், யுதிஷ்டிரனுக்கு தர்ம ஞானம் போதித்தார். பீஷ்மரின் வீழ்ச்சி, போரின் திருப்புமுனையாக அமைந்தது.
