Azhagar Malai Kallazhagar Temple

Azhagar Malai Kallazhagar Temple, known as Thirumaliruncholai, is the 102nd Divya Desam among the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams. Located about 21 km from Madurai city, this sacred temple is famed for being the third Divya Desam with the highest number of 129 hymns sung by the Alwars.

Mentioned in classical Tamil Sangam literature and the epic Silappadikaram, this holy site is also called Solai Malai, Thirumaliruncholai, and Malirkungunram. The temple’s sanctum houses the deity Sri Paramaswami, worshipped in a unique circular sanctum resembling Kerala temple architecture.
