71- Mathura Govardhan Perumal

மதுரா கோவர்த்தநேசன் கோயில், 108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில் 71-வது தலமாக மதிப்பிற்குரிய ஒன்று. உத்தரப்பிரதேச மாநிலம் மதுராவில், பிருந்தாவனத்துக்கு 11 கிமீ, கோவர்த்தனத்துக்கு 22 கிமீ தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. பாலகிருஷ்ணனாக கோவர்த்தநேசன் இங்கு எழுந்தருளியுள்ளார்.

பெரியாழ்வார், ஆண்டாள், நம்மாழ்வார் உள்ளிட்ட ஆழ்வார்கள் 50 பாசுரங்களால் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர். கிருஷ்ணர் பிறந்த மதுரா சிறை, வளர்ந்த ஆயர்ப்பாடி, கம்சனை வதம் செய்த இடம் என இத்தலம் முக்கியமான புனிதத் தலம்.

கோயிலில் செயற்கையாக அமைக்கப்பட்ட குன்று, பளிங்கு உருவங்களில் உருவான இறைவன், சதுர வடிவ தூண்கள் மீது ராமாயணம், மகாபாரதம் காட்சிகள், துளசி மாடங்கள், கம்சனை தோற்கடிக்கும் சிற்பங்கள் ஆகியவை கோயிலின் சிறப்பாக விளங்குகின்றன.

கிருஷ்ண ஜெயந்தி விழாவில் லட்சக்கணக்கானோர் கலந்து கொண்டு கிருஷ்ண சரிதத்தை நாடகமாக காண்கின்றனர். பவங்களை நீக்கி, செல்வம் அருளும் தலம் என மதுரா கோவர்த்தநேசர் பக்தர்களால் மிகுந்த பக்தியுடன் வழிபடப்படுகிறார்.

Govardhanesa Perumal Temple in Mathura, recognized as the 71st Divya Desam, holds a sacred place in Vaishnavite tradition. Located in Uttar Pradesh, this holy site is 11 km from Vrindavan and 22 km from Govardhan Hill, the place where Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan Mountain.

This Divya Desam has been glorified by Periyazhwar, Andal, Nammazhwar, Thondaradipodi Azhwar, and Thirumangai Azhwar with 50 hymns (Pasurams). Krishna was born in a prison in Mathura, raised in Gokulam, and later returned to slay Kamsa, making Mathura a divine stage of his early leelas.

The temple features a man-made Govardhana hill, crystal idols, carvings of Ramayana and Mahabharata scenes on square pillars, a tulasi garden, and sculptures of Devaki-Vasudeva with Kamsa holding a baby upside down – offering deep visual insights into Krishna’s legend.

During Krishna Janmashtami, dramatic enactments of Krishna’s life attract thousands of devotees. It is believed that worship here destroys sins and grants prosperity, making Govardhanesa Perumal a central figure of faith in Mathura’s sacred heritage.
