108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில், தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் பெருங்குளம் (திருக்குளந்தை) உள்ள வேங்கட வாணன் கோயில் 95-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக சிறப்பாகப் போற்றப்படுகிறது.

இந்தத் தலத்தை நம்மாழ்வார் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளார்.

தல வரலாறு: திருக்குளந்தை என அழைக்கப்படும் இத்தலம் தாமிரபரணி ஆற்றின் வடக்குப் பக்கத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இங்கு வேதசாரர் என்ற அந்தணர் வாழ்ந்து, அவரது மனைவி கமலாவதி தீவிர திருமால் பக்தி செய்தார். திருமால் இவரது தவத்தில் மகிழ்ந்து, காட்சி கொடுத்து மணம் புரிந்தார். இத்தலம் பாலிகை வனம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

தாயாருடன் கூடிய உற்சவர் மாயக் கூத்தர் என்ற திருநாமத்துடன் பக்தர்களை காப்பாற்றுகிறார். சனி பகவானுக்கான பரிகாரத் தலமாக இத்தலம் மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது.

கோயிலின் அமைப்பு: ஆனந்த நிலைய விமானத்தின் கீழ் மூலவர் கிழக்கை நோக்கி நின்று அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். அருகில் வேதசாரரும் குமுதவதையும் கைகூப்பி நிற்கிறார்கள். பந்தல் மண்டபத்தில் திருமஞ்சனக் குறடு, கழுநீர்துறை சந்நிதி, மகா, அர்த்த மண்டபங்கள் ஆகியவை உள்ளன.

திருவிழாக்கள்: இத்தளத்தில் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி உற்சவம் சிறப்பாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

Among the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams, the Venkata Vannan Temple located in Perungulam (Thirukkulandhai), Thoothukudi district is revered as the 95th Divya Desam.

This sacred site has been hymned by the saint Nammalvar.

Historical Significance: Situated on the northern banks of the Tamiraparani River, this temple is in the ancient village known as Thirukkulandhai. The priest Vedacharyar lived here with his devout wife Kamalavathi, who performed intense penance to Lord Vishnu. Pleased by her devotion, the Lord manifested Himself and accepted her marriage proposal. The place is also called Paalikai Vanam due to the penance performed here.

The Utsavar, Mayak Koothar, is famed for protecting devotees from evil influences, earning the temple the reputation as a powerful remedial site for Shani dosha (Saturn affliction).

Temple Features: Under the Aananda Nilai Vimana, the presiding deity stands facing east. Nearby statues include Vedacharyar and his wife Kamudavathi. The temple complex includes a marriage hall with a unique bridal palanquin, a sacred well shrine, and grand maha and ardha mandapams. The Utsavar Mayak Koothar is flanked by goddesses Alamelu Mangai and Kulandaivalli Thaayar.

Festivals: The temple celebrates Vaikunta Ekadashi with grandeur, attracting numerous devotees annually.
