Pey Alvar

Pey Alvar, the third among the twelve Alvars, was born in Mylapore, Chennai. He is renowned for composing the Moondram Thiruvandhadhi, a deeply devotional hymn glorifying Lord Vishnu. Pey Alvar’s verses reflect his spiritual vision and mystical experience of seeing Vishnu with Mahalakshmi and Adisesha. Along with Poigai and Bhuthath Alvars, he is part of the “Mudhal Alvars” trio. His birthplace, Mylapore, is a sacred site for devotees.
