Description

This image illustrates the Putana Moksham, a famous episode from Sri Krishna’s childhood leelas in Bhagavata Purana. Putana, a demoness sent by Kamsa, disguised herself as a mother and tried to poison baby Krishna by breastfeeding him. However, Krishna, knowing her true nature, sucked out her life force, granting her moksha (liberation). This divine act took place in Gokul, showcasing Krishna’s supremacy even as an infant. The story symbolizes the Lord’s grace – even a deceitful act, if directed toward Him, can lead to salvation. This leela is celebrated during Janmashtami and revered in many Krishna temples across India
