108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில், விருதுநகர் மாவட்டம் ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் ஆண்டாள் கோயில் 99வது திவ்ய தேசமாக மதிக்கப்படுகிறது. இங்கு மூலவர் வடபத்ரசாயி சுயம்பு மூர்த்தியாக அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். இந்த தலம் ஆண்டாளின் அவதாரத் தலம் எனும் சிறப்பும் பெரிதும் பெற்றது. பெரியாழ்வார் ஆண்டாளை மங்களாசாசனம் செய்ததாலும் புகழ்பெற்றது.

மூலவர்: வடபத்ரசாயி (ரங்கமன்னார்), தாயார்: ஆண்டாள் (கோதை நாச்சியார்). இங்கு தீர்த்தங்கள்: திருமுக்குளம், கண்ணாடித் தீர்த்தம், மற்றும் விமானம்: விமலாக்ருதி விமானம் உள்ளன.

தல வரலாறு: பெரியாழ்வாரின் மகளான கோதை நாச்சியார் பூக்களைத் தன் கூந்தலில் சூடி, பின்னர் இறைவனுக்கு மாலை அணிவிப்பது வழக்கம். இறைவன் கோதையின் மாலைதான் வேண்டும் என்று ஆழ்வாரிடம் கூறினார். இத்தலத்தில் கோதை மற்றும் பெருமாள் இணைந்து அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர்.

கோயில் சிறப்பு: ஆலமரத்தடியில் ஆதிசேஷன் மீது பெருமாள் சயன கோலத்தில், சக்கரம், சங்கு, கருடன், நாரதர் போன்ற சிற்பங்கள் புறக்கணிக்கப்படவில்லை. கோயில் கோபுரம் தமிழகத்தின் சின்னமாக உள்ளது.

மார்கழி எண்ணெய்க் காப்பு 8 நாள் விழா, 61 வகை மூலிகைகள் கொண்ட சிறப்பு எண்ணெய் 40 நாட்கள் காய்ச்சி தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது. இது நோய்தீர்க்கும் மருந்தாக கருதப்படுகிறது.

திருவிழாக்கள்: ஆடிப் பூரத், புரட்டாசி பெரிய பெருமாள் உற்சவம், பங்குனி திருமண உற்சவம் மற்றும் கிருஷ்ண ஜெயந்தி போன்றவை நடைபெறுகின்றன. இத்தலம் திருமண வரம், கல்வி, வியாபார செழிப்பு, குடும்ப வளம் ஆகியவற்றுக்காக பக்தர்களுக்கு பிரசித்தி பெற்றது.

Sri Villiputhur Andal Temple, located in Virudhunagar district, is celebrated as the 99th Divya Desam among the revered 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams. The temple’s presiding deity, Vadapathrasayi, is a Swayambu (self-manifested) Murthi, worshipped with utmost devotion. This temple is famously known as the avataram (birthplace) of Andal, the divine goddess and poetess, who was glorified by Periyalwar through his sacred hymns.

The principal deities here include Vadapathrasayi (Rangamannar) and Andal (Gothai Nachiyar) as Thayar. The temple features holy water bodies—Thirumukkulam and Kannadi Theertham, along with the magnificent Vimalaakruthi Vimanam.

Historical significance: Gothai Nachiyar, daughter of Periyalwar, used to weave garlands from flowers in the Nandavanam, placing them first on her head and then offering them to the Lord, symbolizing her divine love. Lord Vishnu desired only the garlands worn by Gothai Nachiyar, marking her special bond with the divine.

The temple’s architectural marvel includes sculpted idols of divine figures like Garuda, Senai Mudaliyar, Suriyan, Narada, and more around the sanctum. The temple’s tower (gopuram) is the emblem of Tamil Nadu.

A unique feature is the Margazhi oil abhishekam festival, an 8-day event using a special herbal oil boiled for 40 days, believed to possess healing powers.

The temple hosts major festivals like Aadi Pooram, Purattasi Perumal Utsavam, Panguni Kalyanam, and Krishna Jayanthi, attracting thousands of devotees seeking blessings for marriage, prosperity, education, and health.
