திருச்சிற்றாறு இமையவரப்பன் கோயில்

108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில், கேரள ஆலப்புழா மாவட்டம், செங்குன்றூரில் அமைந்துள்ள திருச்சிற்றாறு இமையவரப்பன் கோயில் 82-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக மதிக்கப்படுகிறது. இத்தலத்தில் சிற்றாறு நதி பாய்கிறது, இது கோயிலை மேலும் சிறப்பிக்கிறது.

மூலவர்: இமையவரப்பன் பெருமாள் மேற்கு நோக்கி நின்று அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். அவரின் ஜகஜ்ஜோதி விமானம் கீழ் கருவறை அமைந்துள்ளது. சங்க தீர்த்தம் மற்றும் சிற்றாறு நீர் வழிபாட்டுக்கு புனிதமாக உள்ளன.

பிரமுக வரலாறு: மகாபாரதப் போர் நடந்த 15-வது நாளில், துரோணாசாரியாரை மிரட்டும் யுக்தி இத்தோடு சம்பந்தம் உள்ளது. போருக்கு பின் தருமர், துரோணரின் மகனுக்கு வருந்தி இக்கோயிலுக்கு வந்து வழிபட்டார்.

இமையவர்கள் என்ற தேவர்கள் இங்கு தவம் செய்து பெருமாளுக்கு காட்சி கிடைத்ததால், பெருமாள் இமையவரப்பன் என அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.

முக்கிய திருவிழாக்கள்: வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி மற்றும் திருவோணம் பெருவிழாக்கள் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றன. கோயில் சுற்றுப்பிரகாரங்கள் வண்ணமயமான விளக்குகளால் அலங்கரிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

 Thiruchirraaru, Thiruchengundrur Imaiavarappan Temple

Among the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams, the Thiruchirraaru Imaiavarappan Temple, located in Alappuzha district, Kerala, holds the prestigious position of the 82nd Divya Desam. Situated in the village known as Sengunthur, the temple is uniquely graced by the flowing Sitraru River.

The temple deity, Lord Imaiavarappan (a form of Vishnu), is renowned for granting divine visions to Lord Shiva, symbolizing the unity between Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions. The sanctum sanctorum, under the magnificent Jagajjyothi Vimanam, houses the west-facing main deity. The sacred waters include the Sangha Theertham and the Sitraru River.

Historical significance stems from the epic Mahabharata war where a clever strategy involving Krishna, Bhima, and Drona unfolded near this region. After the war, Dharma, burdened by sorrow over Drona’s death, visited this temple and attained peace by worshipping the Lord and bathing in the river.

The temple’s name and fame grew due to Lord Imaiavarappan’s divine appearance to the celestial gods called Imaiavars, who had performed penance here. Hence, the deity is also called Imaiavarappan, meaning “Father of the Gods.”

Major festivals include the vibrant Vaikuntha Ekadashi and the grand Thiruvonam festival, where the temple’s corridors are decorated with colorful lamps.

Legend says any sincere repentance here is immediately forgiven by the Lord, making this temple a powerful place for divine grace and spiritual healing.
