54- Thirukkalvanoor Kalvan Perumal Temple

108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில் ஒன்று, காஞ்சிபுரம் திருக்கள்வனூர் கள்வப் பெருமாள் கோயில், 54-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக போற்றப்படுகிறது. இங்கு மூலவர் ஆதிவராகர் (கள்வப் பெருமாள்), தாயார் சவுந்தர்ய லட்சுமி, தீர்த்தம் நித்ய புஷ்கரிணி, ஆகமம் வைதீக ஆகமம்.

காமாட்சியம்மன் கோயிலின் வடகிழக்கு பகுதியில், நின்றான், இருந்தான், கிடந்தான் என மூன்று நிலைகளில் ஆண்டவனை தரிசிக்கலாம். பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்கு நேரடியாக தோன்றாமல் மறைந்து இருப்பதால், இவரை “கள்வன்“ என அழைக்கின்றனர்.

மேற்கு நோக்கி நின்ற கோலத்தில், வாமன விமானத்தின் கீழ், அஞ்சிலை நாச்சியாருடன், பெருமாள் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். லட்சுமி மற்றும் பார்வதி அந்தரங்கமாக உரையாடியதை பெருமாள் ஒளிந்து கேட்டு, பார்வதி தேவியால் “கள்வன்” எனப் பெயரிட்டார்.

ஒரு காலத்தில் சிவன் சாபம் சூட்டிய பார்வதி, அதை நீக்க காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் வாமனரை நோக்கி தவம் செய்து, காமாட்சி என்னும் பெயரைப் பெற்றதாக புராணம் கூறுகிறது.

இங்கு பெருமாள் கூறும் வாக்கு: “எங்கிருந்தும், எப்படியும் எனை தரிசிப்பவர்கள் எல்லோரும் என் பார்வையில் ஆவார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு துயர் நீக்கி நிம்மதி அளிப்பேன்.”

இக்கோயிலில் வழிபாடு செய்வதால், பிரிந்த தம்பதிகள் ஒன்றிணைதல், திருமண தடை நீக்கம், குடும்ப ஒற்றுமை, ராகு–கேது தோஷ நிவாரணம் என பலன்கள் உறுதி.

Among the 108 Divya Desams, Thirukkalvanoor Kalvan Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram is revered as the 54th sacred shrine. The presiding deity is Kalvan Perumal (Adi Varaha), and the Goddess is Soundarya Lakshmi. The temple tank is called Nithya Pushkarini, and it follows Vaidika Agama traditions.

This unique Divya Desam is situated on the northeastern bank of the Kamakshi Amman Temple tank and showcases Lord Vishnu in three postures – standing, sitting, and reclining. As the Lord does not appear directly in Kamakshi’s sanctum and hides himself, He earned the name “Kalvan” (the Divine Thief).

Kalvan Perumal, in standing posture, faces west and grants darshan under the Vamana Vimanam with Anjilai Nachiyar, near the sacred Nithya Pushkarini. Legend says He secretly overheard a divine conversation between Lakshmi and Parvati at Kamakoti, leading Parvati to lovingly call Him “Kalvan”.

The temple is associated with a tale where Parvati performed penance facing Vamana, to reunite with Lord Shiva after a curse. She earned the name Kamakshi here, symbolizing divine grace.

Lord Vishnu assures in this shrine: “Wherever or however one sees Me, I bless them with peace and liberation.”

Worshipping here is believed to unite estranged couples, bring quick marriages for women, foster family harmony, and remove Rahu-Ketu doshas.

Major festivals: Vaikunta Ekadasi and Navaratri are celebrated with grandeur, attracting thousands of devotees.
