திருக்கோஷ்டியூர் சௌம்ய நாராயண பெருமாள் கோவில் 108 திவ்யதேசங்களில் 104வது தலம் ஆகும். இந்தப் பெருமாளை பெரியாழ்வார், திருமங்கையாழ்வார், பேயாழ்வார், பூதத்தாழ்வார், திருமழிசை ஆழ்வார் போன்றோர் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர்.

இக்கோவில் அஷ்டாங்க விமானம் எனப்படும் அரிய விமான கட்டமைப்பில் அமைந்துள்ளது. பெருமாள் நான்கு ரூபங்களில் – நிற்கும், அமர்ந்திருக்கும், சயனத்தில் மற்றும் நடக்கும் திருக்கோலங்களில் திருவுலா செய்து, மூன்று மாடங்களில் வீற்றிருக்கும் திருவுருவம் தனிச்சிறப்பு பெற்றது.

சௌம்ய நாராயண பெருமாள் மூலவர்; தாயார் திருமாமகள், மேலும் நிலா மாமகள் மற்றும் குலமாமகள் எனவும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். கோபுர வாயிலில் ஸ்வயம்பு லிங்கம், நரசிம்மருடன் ராகு–கேது, மேலும் நர்த்தன கிருஷ்ணர், உபேந்திர நாராயணன், பரமபதநாதன் ஆகியோரும் வீற்றிருக்கின்றனர்.

விசுவகர்மா மற்றும் மாயன் இருவரும் சேர்ந்து இந்த விமானத்தை “ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய” எனும் மந்திரத்தின் வடிவமாக கட்டியுள்ளனர்.

திருக்கோஷ்டியூர் நம்பி, **இளையாழ்வான் (ராமானுஜர்)**க்கு அஷ்டாக்ஷர மந்திரம் உபதேசித்த இடமிது. அதனை ராமானுஜர் கோபுரத்தில் நின்று உலகமெலாம் கேட்ட heard உயிர்கள் எல்லாம் சுவர்க்கம் பெற வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்துடன் பிரபலமாக கூறினார்.

சந்தான கோபால கண்ணனுக்கு சிறப்பு அர்ச்சனை செய்து, குழந்தைப் பேரும் பாக்கியமும் பெறலாம். சிம்ம தீர்த்தம் புனிதமானதாக காணப்படுகிறது.

பிரமோற்சவம், மாசி தீர்த்தவிழா, வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி, நவராத்திரி விழாக்கள் சிறப்பாக நடைபெறும்.

Thirukoshtiyur Sowmya Narayana Perumal Temple

Thirukoshtiyur Sowmya Narayana Perumal Temple is the 104th Divya Desam praised in the sacred hymns of the Alwars – including Periyalwar, Thirumangai Alwar, Peyalwar, Bhoothathalwar, and Thirumazhisai Alwar. This temple is famed for its Ashtanga Vimanam, a rare architectural marvel with eight parts. It houses the presiding deity Sowmya Narayana Perumal and Goddess Thirumamagal, also known as Nila Mamagal and Kulamamagal.

This holy site is where Lord Vishnu revealed His Narasimha form to the devas and Sage Kadamba before His incarnation. He also appeared in four divine postures – standing, sitting, reclining, and walking – and is enshrined in all these forms within the multi-tiered Vimanam. Unique darshan includes Rahu and Ketu beside Narasimha and a Swayambu Lingam at the temple’s entrance.

Viswakarma and Mayan, celestial architects, jointly constructed the sacred Vimanam, symbolizing the mantras “Om, Namo, Narayana.” The sanctum features Narthana Krishna, Sowmya Narayana, Upendra Narayana, and Paramapadanathan across the three floors.

Ramanuja received the sacred Ashtakshara mantra from Thirukoshtiyur Nambi here. Despite being warned not to share it, Ramanuja proclaimed it to the world from the temple tower, believing universal salvation was more important than personal consequence.

Special worship to Santhana Gopala Krishna blesses devotees with progeny and prosperity. The Simma Theertham, connected to the Ganga, is revered, especially during Maasi Magam.
