திருப்புலியூர் மாயப்பிரான் கோயில்
108 வைணவ திவ்ய தேசங்களில், கேரள ஆலப்புழா மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள திருப்புலியூர் மாயப்பிரான் கோயில் 83-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக மதிக்கப்படுகிறது. பஞ்ச பாண்டவரில் பீமன், இக்கோயிலில் இருந்து திருமாலை நோக்கி தவம் புரிந்ததால, இத்தலம் பீம ஷேத்ரம் என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
மூலவர்: மாயப்பிரான் பெருமாள் புருஷசுக்த விமானத்தின் கீழ், வட்ட வடிவ கருவறையில் கிழக்கு நோக்கி நின்று அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். தாயார் பொற்கொடி நாச்சியார். பிரக்ஞாசரஸ் தீர்த்தம் மற்றும் பூஞ்சுனை தீர்த்தம் புனித நீர்மலர்.
தல வரலாறு: சிபிச்சக்கரவர்த்தியின் மகன் விருஷாதர்பி, சாபத்தால் நோயுற்று வறுமையில் சிக்கினார். சப்தரிஷிகள் அவருக்கு தானம் பெற மறுத்ததால், அரசர் செய்த யாகத்தில் தோன்றிய தேவதை, திருமால் இந்திரனை புலியாக மாற்றி கொன்றார். இதனால் இத்தலம் திருப்புலியூர் எனும் பெயர் பெற்றது.
திருமங்கையாழ்வார், நம்மாழ்வார் பாசுரங்களில் இத்தலம் சிறப்பாகக் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
திருவிழாக்கள்: மார்கழி மாத அஸ்தமி நட்சத்திரத்தில் கொடியேற்றல், தை மாதம் காவடியாட்டம் ஆகியவை பிரமுகமாக நடைபெறுகின்றன.

Thiruppuliyoor Mayapiraan Temple
Among the 108 Vaishnavite Divya Desams, the Thiruppuliyoor Mayapiraan Temple, located in Alappuzha district, Kerala, is revered as the 83rd Divya Desam. This sacred temple is historically linked to Bhima, one of the five Pandavas, who performed penance here while facing Thirumal (Lord Vishnu). Because of this association, the temple is also called Bhima Shethram.
The temple’s main deity, Lord Mayapiraan, stands facing east under the Purushasuktha Vimanam in a circular sanctum. His consort is Porkodi Nachiyar. The temple is blessed with sacred waters known as Pragnasaras Theertham and Poonjunai Theertham.
A fascinating historical legend recounts how a local king, Virushadharpi, afflicted with a curse and poverty, sought help from the Saptarishis (seven sages). After a series of divine events involving a tiger and Lord Vishnu’s intervention, the place came to be called Thiruppuliyoor (“tiger place”). It is believed that Lord Vishnu appeared as Mayapiraan to the sages here.
The temple is also celebrated in the Pasurams of Thirumangai Alvar and Nammalvar, reflecting its sacred prominence.
Key festivals include the vibrant Margazhi Ashtami Kodiyetru and the energetic Kavadi Attam during Thai month.
Devotees pray here for healing incurable diseases, removing marriage obstacles, fertility blessings, and academic excellence. The temple is renowned for its divine grace and miraculous blessings.
