108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில், சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணி பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் கோயில் என்பது 60-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக புனிதம் பெற்றது. இங்கு 9 அடி உயர வேங்கட கிருஷ்ணர் மூலவராக மிகச் சிறப்பாக காட்சியளிக்கிறார். மீசையுடன் உள்ள ஒரே மூலவராக இது தனிச்சிறப்புடையது. இது, குருஷேத்திரப் போரில் பார்த்தனுக்கு சாரதியாக இருந்த கிருஷ்ணரைக் குறிக்கிறது.

இந்தத் தலம் பேயாழ்வார், திருமங்கையாழ்வார், திருமழிசையாழ்வார், மற்றும் ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரால் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்யப்பட்டது. உற்சவர் பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள், தாயார் ருக்மிணி, தீர்த்தமாக கைரவிணி புஷ்கரிணி, தல விருட்சம் மகிழம், ஆகமம் வைகானஸம், விமானம் ஆனந்த விமானம் என விளங்குகிறது.

சுமதிராஜன் என்ற மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணரை தேரோட்டி கோலத்தில் தரிசிக்க விரும்பினார். திருமால் அவ்வரूपத்தில் காட்சி அளித்தார். இந்தக் கோலத்தில் தான் சங்கம் மட்டும் ஏந்தி, முகத்தில் பீஷ்மரின் அம்புகள் பட்ட வடுக்கள் இருந்தவாறு காட்சியளிக்கிறார்.

இக்கோயில் பஞ்ச மூர்த்தி ஸ்தலம், ஏனெனில் இங்கு வேங்கட கிருஷ்ணர், ரங்கநாதர், ராமர், கஜேந்திர வரதர், யோக நரசிம்மர் ஆகிய ஐந்து மூலவர்களும் தனி சந்நிதிகளில் அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர். கருடாழ்வார் மீது நித்ய வாசம் செய்வதால், தினமும் கருட சேவை காணலாம்.

வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி, பிரம்மோற்சவம், கோகுலாஷ்டமி, போன்ற திருவிழாக்கள் விமரிசையாக நடைபெறும். வேதவல்லித் தாயார், தனிசந்நிதியில் அருள்பாலிக்க, வெள்ளிக்கிழமைகள் மற்றும் உத்திர நட்சத்திரம் அன்று ஊஞ்சல் சேவை நிகழ்கிறது. திராவிடக் கட்டிடக் கலையும், ஆன்மிகச் சிறப்புகளும் இத்தலத்தை பிரமிக்கச் செய்கின்றன.

Among the 108 Divya Desams, the Thiruvallikeni Parthasarathy Perumal Temple in Chennai is glorified as the 60th sacred site. The temple’s unique feature is the 9-foot tall Moolavar (main deity), Venkata Krishna, who is seen with a moustache, portraying Krishna as the charioteer (Sarathi) of Arjuna—a depiction exclusive to this temple.

This holy site has been sung by Peyalvar, Thirumangai Alvar, Thirumazhisai Alvar, and revered by Sri Ramanuja. The Utsavar (processional deity) is known as Parthasarathy Perumal, while Rukmini is the divine consort. The temple’s sacred tank is Kairavini Pushkarini, and the holy tree is Magizham (Mimusops elengi). The temple follows Vaikhanasa Agama, and the Ananda Vimanam crowns the sanctum.

A legendary king, Sumathirajan, desired to see Krishna in the form he took during the Kurukshetra war. Moved by his devotion, Krishna appeared as Parthasarathy, holding only a shankha (conch), without other weapons, and bearing the arrow scars received while protecting Arjuna—scars that are still visible on the deity’s face.

The temple is renowned as a Pancha Moorthy Sthalam, housing five principal deities: Venkata Krishna (Moolavar), Ranganatha, Rama, Gajendra Varadar, and Yoga Narasimha. Here, Yoga Narasimha receives the first daily worship, and Garuda Seva is celebrated every day, a rare tradition.

Major festivals include Vaikunta Ekadasi, Brahmotsavam, Gokulashtami, and Laksharchana. On special days, Thayar Vedavalli appears on a swing within the premises. The temple’s Dravidian architecture, intricate sculptures, and philosophical symbolism make it a divine treasure in South India.
