90-Vanamamalai Perumal Temple

வானமாமலை பெருமாள் கோயில்

திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டம் நாங்குநேரியில் (ஸ்ரீவரமங்கை, வானமாமலை) அமைந்துள்ள வானமாமலை பெருமாள் கோயில், திருமாலால் மங்களாசாசனம் பெற்ற 108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில் 90-வது தலம் ஆகும்.

இத்தலத்தில் மூலஸ்தானத்தில் தோத்தாத்ரி நாதர், ஸ்ரீதேவி, பூதேவி, சூரியன், சந்திரன், பிருகுரிஷி, மார்க்கண்டேயர், ஊர்வசி, திலோத்தமை, கருடாழ்வார், விஷ்வக்சேனர் ஆகிய 11 சுயம்பு மூர்த்திகள் இருக்கின்றனர். பெருமாள் ஆண்டும் முழுவதும் தரிசிக்கக்கூடிய தலம் இது.

இத்தலத்தில் பெருமாள் வைகுண்ட விமானத்தில், ஸ்ரீதேவி, பூமி தேவி உடன் ராஜதர்பார் கோலத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறார். ஒரு கை பாதத்தை, மற்றது மடிமீது வைத்திருப்பது, “சரணாகதருக்கு தன்னை அர்ப்பணிக்கிறார்” என்பதைக் கூறுகிறது.

அருள்மிகு மணவாள மாமுனி ஸ்தாபித்த ஜீயர் மடம் இத்தலத்தில் உள்ளது. இங்கே உள்ள சடாரியில் நம்மாழ்வார் திருவுருவம் பொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தங்கரதம், தங்க சப்பரம், பதினோரு ஆழ்வார் சன்னதி, தசாவதார மூர்த்திகள், ராமர், கண்ணன், சக்கரத்தாழ்வார் உள்ளிட்ட பலருக்கு தனிச் சந்நிதிகள் உள்ளன.

பங்குனி மற்றும் சித்திரை மாதங்களில் பிரம்மோற்சவம், நல்லெண்ணெய் அபிஷேகம், சரும நோய்களுக்கு தீர்வு தரும் தீர்த்தம் போன்றவை இத்தல சிறப்புகள் ஆகும்.

Vanamamalai Perumal Temple

Located in Nanguneri (also known as Thiru Vanamamalai or Sri Varamangai), in Tirunelveli district, the Vanamamalai Perumal Temple is the 90th Divya Desam praised in the sacred hymns of the Alwars.

Here, in the sanctum, Lord Thothadri Nathan (Vanamamalai Perumal) is enshrined in a majestic Rajadhiraja posture, accompanied by Sri Devi and Bhoomi Devi, seated under the Vaikunta Vimanam. His right foot is extended, symbolizing that He is ever ready to offer refuge to His devotees, while the left is folded, resting on His lap—signifying divine grace upon surrender.

This temple uniquely houses 11 self-manifested (swayambhu) deities, including:

• Lord Thothadri Nathan
• Sri Devi and Bhoomi Devi
• Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon)
• Sage Bhrigu and Sage Markandeya
• Urvashi and Tilottama
• Garuda and Vishwaksena

The temple is also home to the Vanamamalai Jeer Mutt, founded by Sri Manavala Mamunigal. The Sataari (crown) here is special, featuring the image of Nammazhwar engraved on it—a rare sight.
