திருக்காட்கரை காட்கரையப்பன் கோயில்

108 திவ்ய தேசங்களில், கேரளம் எர்ணாகுளம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள திருக்காட்கரையில் அமைந்துள்ள காட்கரையப்பன் கோயில், 78-வது திவ்ய தேசமாக போற்றப்படுகிறது. இது வாமன அவதாரத்திற்காகக் கட்டப்பட்ட கோயில்களில் முக்கியமானது.

இந்த கேரள பாணி வட்ட வடிவ கோயிலை பரசுராமர் கட்டியதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. இத்தலத்தில், மகாபலி சக்கரவர்த்தியை வாமனன் வடிவில் திருமால் பூமிக்குள் அழுத்திய இடம் என்பதால், இத்தலம் சிறப்பு பெறுகிறது.

இத்தலத்தில் நம்மாழ்வார் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளார். மூலவர் காட்கரையப்பன் (வாமன ரூபம்) ஆகவும், தாயார்கள் பெருஞ்செல்வ நாயகி, வாத்ஸல்ய வல்லி ஆகவும் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்கள். தீர்த்தம் – கபில தீர்த்தம், விமானம் – புஷ்கல விமானம்.

மகாபலியின் சிம்மாசனம் கோயில் நுழைவாயிலில் உள்ளது. வாமனரின் மரச் சிற்பம் முகப்பு மண்டபத்தில் அழகாக அமைந்துள்ளது. கோயிலுக்குள் மற்றும் வெளியில் பகவதி தேவி, சாஸ்தா, நாகர், கோபால கிருஷ்ணர், சுந்தர யக்ஷி ஆகியோருக்கான சந்நிதிகள் உள்ளன.

ஆவணி மாத திருவோண நட்சத்திரத்தில் நடைபெறும் ஓணத் திருவிழா, தற்போதைய 10 நாட்கள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தோஷ நிவர்த்தி, சந்தான பாக்கியம் வேண்டி பக்தர்கள் இங்கே சிறப்பு பூஜைகள் செய்கிறார்கள்.

Thirukkatkarai Kaatkaraiyappan Temple

Among the 108 Divya Desams, the Kaatkaraiyappan Temple at Thirukkatkarai in Ernakulam, Kerala, is revered as the 78th sacred site. This temple is dedicated to Vamana Avatar, where Lord Vishnu incarnated to subdue the asura king Mahabali.

Legend says Lord Parashurama built this circular-structured temple in Kerala architectural style. This site is where Lord Vamana measured the earth and heavens with two steps and pushed Mahabali into the netherworld with the third.

Nammalvar has sung Mangalasasanam on this temple. The presiding deity is Kaatkaraiyappan, without his traditional weapons, symbolic of his Vamana form. The consorts are Perunchella Nayagi and Vatsalya Valli. The temple features the Pushkala Vimanam and Kapila Theertham.

Notably, the temple is aligned east-facing, with a sanctum housing the Vamana form. The Simhasanam of Mahabali greets devotees at the entrance. A beautifully carved wooden sculpture of Lord Vamana in dwarf form adorns the mandapam.

Separate shrines exist for Bhagavati Devi, Sastha, Sundara Yakshi, Gopala Krishna, and Nagar.

The grand Thiruvonam Utsavam in Aavani month celebrates Vamana’s divine act and Mahabali’s devotion. Once lasting 28 days, now held for 10 days, it draws thousands for dosha nivarthi and santana prapti.
